Key Staff Members

Project Director: Johannes Müller Gómez

Johannes Müller Gómez has been COMOS Programme director and board member since 2016. He is a doctoral researcher in political science at the Université de Montréal and the Ludwig Maximilians Universität Munich. He was a research associate and lecturer in EU politics at the University of Cologne from 2014 to 2017.
As the project director of DAFEUS, he is responsible for organising and implementing the DAFEUS events and activities in cooperation with Alina Thieme, and for the communication with the project partners.

Project Director: Alina Thieme

Alina Thieme has been COMOS Programme director and board member since 2017. She has been executive manager of the Centre for Turkey and European Union Studies (CETEUS) at the University of Cologne since 2018 and a research associate at CETEUS since 2017.
As the project director of DAFEUS, she is responsible for organising and implementing the DAFEUS events and activities in cooperation with Johannes Müller Gómez, and for the communication with the project partners.

Financial Manager: Cyril Gläser

Cyril Gläser is COMOS Executive Manager since 2006. He is Executive Manager of the Cologne Centre for Comparative Politics (CCCP) at the University of Cologne. From 2006 to 2016, he was research associate and Executive Manager at the Jean Monnet Chair of Prof Dr Wolfgang Wessels at the Centre for Turkey and European Union Studies at the University of Cologne.
He is responsible for the financial management of DAFEUS

Academic Coordinator: Hartmut Marhold

Hartmut Marhold is President of COMOS and former director of research and development at the Centre international de formation européene (Cife) in Nice and Berlin. He is vice chairman of the executive board of the Institute of European Politics (IEP) in Berlin. Currently, he is honorary professor at the University of Cologne, and he teaches at the Turkish-German University in Istanbul.
As the academic coordinator of DAFEUS, he is responsible for the overall coherence of the project, and the general conception and topical orientation.

Scientific Curator: Tobias Kunstein

Tobias Kunstein has been executive manager of the Institute of Political Science at the University of Cologne since July 2014.
As a scientific curator of DAFEUS, he is responsible for the academic output of DAFEUS, i.e. the journal article and the edited volume.  

Scientific Curator: Wulf Reiners

Wulf Reiners is Vice President of the Cologne Monnet Association for EU-Studies (COMOS) and Head of the ‘Managing Global Governance’ (MGG) programme of the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE). From 2015 to 2017 he was Assistant Professor at the Turkish-German University in Istanbul and from 2016 to 2017 academic co-coordinator of the Jean Monnet Module ‘INSITER – Inside the Turkey-EU Relations’.
In the DAFEUS project, he coordinates and monitors the elaboration of the policy papers, background papers and the set of webcasts.

Research Assistant: Lea Hopp

Lea Hopp has been research assistant at the Centre for Turkey and European Union Studies (CETEUS) at the University of Cologne since 2016. Currently, she is studying political science (MA) at the University of Cologne.
As a research assistant of DAFEUS, she supports the team in the implementation of the project.
